Ever since it first took place in 1909 the ILA has been recognised as the world’s oldest air show. It is co-organised by the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) and Messe Berlin. Known initially as the German Aviation Show, the fair was increasingly attracting participants from abroad, and in 1978 the symbolic three letters ILA from 1909 were revived. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1992 opened the way for the ILA to return to its birthplace in Berlin; since then the ILA has been held bi-annually at Schonefeld Airport in Berlin/Brandenburg.
The ILA Berlin will be taking place from 25 to 29 April 2018 at Berlin ExpoCenter Airport. The first three days are reserved for trade visitors only. At the weekend the trade fair will also be open to the public. At the ILA Berlin Air Show 2018 the focus will be on innovations, new technology and sustainability. This represents a logical continuation of the ILA concept that was successfully introduced in 2016.
